Karnivool - Themata

So I have a new/old interest in Karnivool. By that, I mean I had heard and liked them before, but I hadnt really listened to them in detail. I finally found Themata in JB HiFi the other day and bought it. I love it.. similar to The Butterfly Effect and Melodyssey I guess (also faves - both mindblowing in concert). They are Aussie prog or hard rock. I know some people call them metal, but I wouldnt; I think it is stretching the boundary to even call them Nu-Metal... They are definately influenced by metal, but to call them so is incorrectly categorising them.. but I think they sit somewhere between hard rock, prog and nu-metal... I guess... God i hate genres! They are so frustrating!! Anyway, great Aussie Perth band I reccommend you listen to. If you recognise Ian Kenny's voice, it is because his other band, Birds of Tokyo, is currently hitting the main stream in Australia.. its other fave of mine LOL They are featuring the new Karnivool album, Sound Awake on triple j this week, and it is sounding great... I want a copy NOW!!

Ian Kenny – Vocals
Andrew “Drew” Goddard - Lead Guitar
Mark Hosking - Guitar
Jon Stockman - Bass
Steve Judd - Drums

Themata
Step in this room where I wanna be
Surely you mean this as something
You're bringing me down to a silent breath
When it's the truth that I wanna see

Search myself for the reason
The ever loving greed
I am put off slighty
So what am I to see.. oh my love
In the sensory serenity

So pull the pin inside
Baby let it ride
Never knowin' I'm the next to see
With the fire sign
Never make it mine
Never knowin' I'm the next to be

I am learning slowly
So what am I to see
Every twist and turning
Through my hypocrisy

It's so good to see
This world is alive
It's so good to see
This world is a lie

Like a knot it binds, suffocating minds
Never knowing, I'm in the next to see
With the fire sign
Never make it mine
Never knowin' I'm the next to bleed

I am learning slowly
So what am I to see
Every twist and turning
Through my hypocrisy
Search myself for the reason
Forever loving greed
I am bored of silence
So what am I to see?

It's so good to see
This world is alive
It's so good to see
This world isn't mine

Lie awake, still, as I try to breathe
Surely you mean this is something
You're bringing me down to a silent breath
and it's the truth that I wanna see

In the sensory, serenity
how could it be, that I'm the next to see?
In the sensory, serenity
how could it be, that I'm the next to see?
In the sensory, serenity
how could it be, that I'm the next to see?
In the sensory, serenity
could it be, that I'm in ecstasy

It's so good to see
This world is alive
It's so good to see
This world isn't mine

It's So good to see (so good to see)
This world I'm in loves me..
So

Shutterspeed
Leave me alone
I'm seething
I search for the truth and love in your eyes
Help me to feel I'm needed
I search for the truth to find you mine

Bust myself back into pieces,
I pull at the seam as you start to tear
Lead myself back to my coma shell
No better face left to bare

I see more than you
And I feel more than you

Your spinning me out

It's a better room now, it's a better place
I would beg you to scream at me
The voices cry, the fashion mould
They want the truth, not what it seems

Bust myself back into pieces,
I pull at the seam as you start to tear
Lead myself back to my coma shell
No better face left to bare

I see more than you
And I feel more than you

Your spinning me out

Speak to me now
With guided tongue
See through me now
Look what you've done

I see more than you
And I feel more than you

Scrape me from the ceiling
These suckers want more
I feel the pressure belonging to all
Put fear in to my mind
I'm open to everything
I feel the strength of you
Give me this feeling I need yeah

It's a better room now, it's a better place

I feel more than you
