Soundwave 2011: Three sleeps left!
I am getting quite excited. I know I said a year ago I wasn’t ever going to a music festival again. Well I lied. I took one look at the 2011 Soundwave line up and had no choice… And it is three sleeps till showdown! *squee* Iron Maiden and Slayer are the reason I changed my mind. Who knows, maybe I can get through the epic 11 hours without fainting this time! :D
My itinerary now:
11 - 11:30 Blatherskite
Break - buy merch?
12:30 - 1:10 The Gaslight Anthem
1 - 1:40 Sevendust
Break - lunch?
2:10 - 2:50 Devil Driver
2:45 - 3:30 Stone Sour
3:20 - 4:00 Murderdolls maybe? Not too fussed. Maybe Primus.
Break - food or band?
4:30 - 5:10 Dimmu Borgir
Break - dinner
5:40 - 6:30 Slayer
Break – wait up front for QOTSA
6:55 - 7:55 QOTSA whilst daydreaming of Rob Zombie
8:00 - 10:00 Iron Maiden
Blatherskite won the Triple J Unearthed competition and I was listening to them last night. I like them! Very reminiscent of Tool and Meshuggah.
I am really looking forward to seeing some absolute legends in three days time. I know Sunday will be something to store in the memory banks! God... IRON MAIDEN! :O

Hottest 100 2010: My picks (Pt 1)
The first song to make the shortlist for my top ten releases for 2010 is Deftones Diamond Eyes, off the album of the same name. I suspect I will want to add another of their songs, but I always limit it to one. When I am satisfied with my ten (this will be HARD!) I will submit them as my vote for Triple J's Hottest 100!

Die Antwoord - Enter The Ninja
I can't actually tell you why I am addicted to this song. It isn’t my sort of music, but there is something addictive about it. Richard Kingsmill from Triple J posted it to his twitter feed with a cryptic comment when he heard they were coming to Australia (before it was announced, hence the cryptic comment). I clicked the link and fell down the rabbit hole. It is worth having a look at their website (click on the About link). It is very untraditional, nearly a storyboard, showing the personality of the band in a way that is loud and clear.

John Lennon - Working Class Hero
As soon as you're born they make you feel small
By giving you no time instead of it all
Till the pain is so big you feel nothing at all
A working class hero is something to be
A working class hero is something to be
They hurt you at home and they hit you at school
They hate you if you're clever and they despise a fool
Till you're so fucking crazy you can't follow their rules
A working class hero is something to be
A working class hero is something to be
When they've tortured and scared you for twenty odd years
Then they expect you to pick a career
When you can't really function you're so full of fear
A working class hero is something to be
A working class hero is something to be
Keep you doped with religion and sex and TV
And you think you're so clever and class less and free
But you're still fucking peasants as far as I can see
A working class hero is something to be
A working class hero is something to be
There's room at the top they are telling you still
But first you must learn how to smile as you kill
If you want to be like the folks on the hill
A working class hero is something to be
A working class hero is something to be
If you want to be a hero well just follow me
If you want to be a hero well just follow me
